The grapes were harvested on April 5th, 2023, whole berry pressed (in the absence of stalks) in the presence of air to minimise harsh extractive characters with the juice allowed to settle naturally. The settled juice was racked and fermented using a yeast strain selected for its purity of aromatic expression. The fermentation was slowed by cooling at around 4 g/L of residual sugar, which accentuates its floral fruit flavours.

The 2023 Vintage will be noted for its intensity of fruit flavour and high acidity at harvest. A long-cool growing season led to high levels of malic acid at the normal maturity target, leaving winemakers to wait for the acidity to fall before harvest.

The wine is sourced from a single vineyard grown at 500 to 520m elevation on the original Pohlner Station property at Flaxman Valley in the Barossa Ranges. Its easterly aspect promotes ripe Riesling characters yet preserves purity and freshness.

Eden Valley is located east of the Barossa Valley with a climate featuring cooler temperatures suited to the Riesling grape with a long cool ripening period. It is famed for dry Riesling which are characterised by pristine lime juice flavours in their youth evolving into toasty marmalade characters with age.
